BOOMER

Boomer's my name, I am a happy go lucky neutered male lab. I am about three years old, and I am housebroken, crate trained and I even know a few commands. My foster mom tells me I am a medium energy labbie.

Barney

Barney came into LRR several months ago. He was a very sweet dog who loved people. Although he loved to play with tennis balls and rope toys, he was very overweight. He spent some time at a foster home who helped him lose some weight. From Barney's letter LRR has received, it sounds like he loves his new home.

barney1.jpg I wanted to send you a new picture to show how much weight I've lost since LRR rescued me from a shelter earlier this year. It's a little embarrassing to tell you how much I weighed back then, but let's just agree that it was in the triple digits.

After my rescue, I was sent to a (fat?) farm in southern Maryland where I had a great foster dad who took me for long walks and played ball with me. After he put me a strict green bean/dry food diet, the pounds started flying off!

My adoptive parents continued my weight loss program with twice daily mile walks supplemented with a little cat chasing (don't worry, she's much faster than me).

Today, I can proudly say that I have lost more than 25 pounds and the large fatty lumps that were on the side of my body have decreased considerably. The vet says I am very healthy and is pleased with my progress. I am so happy, especially when everyone tells me how handsome I am. LRR likes to joke that when they got me from the shelter that I was shaped like a coffee table but with my new sleek body and fast tail now I send objects flying off the coffee table! Thanks again LRR.
