Hank
Hank came to LRR several years ago as half of a two year old black lab brother duo who was given up by folks who had moved to the DC area from Georgia and found they could not afford the boys with the higher cost of living. Jake, his smaller brother, was adopted first, leaving Hank to go it alone in his foster home. It was tough on him without Jake, but soon he had fun with the other dogs, and it was not long before his new home came along. LRR took Hank with several other labbies to a Pet Information Day, where the goal is to familiarize people with the breed, rescue dogs, and LRR. A fellow had come to look at cats and confused us briefly with another rescue. While visiting us, he interacted with Hank. Throughout the day, he would return to look at Hank, and it began to appear that he might want a dog instead of a cat! Soon, we received an application from him, and once approved, he was happy to find that Hank was still in the system. He came to visit Hank again at his foster home, and it was clear that fate had stepped in to bring these two together. And thanks to Hank and his Dad, several more folks from his complex adopted LRR labbies, and they have their own daily reunions. (And, yes, a cat was finally added to the family!)
