Winston

Joined the LOL 3/2006

IN MEMORY OF WINSTON, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN OCTOBER, 2007. Winston was adopted in 2003 from LRR at age 5. He was “pudgy” then but now at age 8, Winston is “svelte” – thanks to his obsession with tennis balls!!! Chasing those tennis balls twice a day is great exercise and helps his arthritis too. In-between ball-chasing activities, Winston rests up all day while his owners are working to pay for his dog food. Being an early-riser at 5:30 am, Winston makes sure he is in his favorite spot (end of the bed) by 10 pm. He knows the importance of his owners staying in their area of the bed –plenty of room for him to stretch out! (3/06)

IN MEMORY OF KEEBLER, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN JANUARY 2011, AT AGE 13. Keebler, at age 6, was adopted from LRR in 2004. Keebler is a very, very early riser – 3:45 am; he gets his owners up by standing in their bedroom doorway wagging his tail wildly against the door as if calling them to dinner! Once up, out the door we go for the morning walk, followed by breakfast and spending the day with 2 cats. Once his owners return from work, Keebler sits next to them waiting for his evening petting. Bedtime is a pleasure for Keebler – he spreads out in his bed, moans with pleasure, gets his bedtime hug, and snores away shortly thereafter! Probably dreaming about the coming weekend car ride to a nearby lake for another long walk. (01/06)

IN MEMORY OF BAILEY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN FEBRUARY 2011, AT AGE 13. Bailey was adopted from LRR in 1999. Compared to other LOL celebrities, Bailey is a “late” riser—6 a.m. First order of the day is breakfast. Next the search for the “perfect spot” for the nap: shall it be the sun-spot, one one of the many pillows throughout the house, or the couch today? With the day’s routine in place, Bailey rests up for her 2-mile walk once the folks get home. On weekdays/weekends when Bailey’s folks are home, the daily schedule changes to patrolling the yard and fenceline—guarding against threatening intruders (rabbits, squirrels, etc). Yes, Bailey considers her life “perfect.” Other dogs need not apply for this residence!!! (12/05)

IN MEMORY OF BRADLEY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN APRIL 2008, AT AGE 9. Bradley was adopted from LRR in December 2001 when he was 3. At 7, he is now a typical “mature” lab, who has become very efficient at managing his movement – everything in moderation, nothing to excess! He loves to lie in sunny spots in the living room, but has to keep moving as these spots keep moving across the room. However much he enjoys the contemplative life, Bradley also enjoys keeping a watchful eye (and nose!) on the backyard fence, to guard against any strange intruders (mostly birds). Neighbor dogs are also on his ‘watch list’. All in all, Bradley is a well-adjusted, happy lab. (12/05)

IN MEMORY OF MOCHA, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN APRIL, 2011 AT AGE 14. Mocha was adopted from LRR in June 2002 at the age of 5. She is a ‘working’ dog, and has a very important job guarding her family’s chicken pen. She has worn a path around the pen and keeps a sharp eye on them all day; at night Mocha accompanies her Dad and helps lock up the chickens for the night. After they are safe and sound Mocha allows herself to be off-duty and devotes herself to normal lab pursuits, and finally heads to the bedroom chair for the night. (10/05)

IN MEMORY OF ROCKY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN MAY,2005. Adopted 10/03 at age 5-6. Rocky’s favorite things were cuddling, swimming and making his family laugh. He also liked to take walks in the woods and be with his LRR brother Webster and Irish Water Spaniel brother Yawney. Rocky was only with us for a short time but he will live in our hearts forever. IN MEMORY OF FENWAY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN NOVEMBER, 2007. Fenway was adopted from LRR 11/99 at age 1. Twice a month, Fenway visits local nursing homes with Therapy Dogs, Inc. to cheer up the residents – those loving pats on his head are as good as his dog treats! Other days Fenway has a daily routine: eat breakfast; fetch the paper; go for a walk, hang around the pool until supper – not too hard a schedule for a 7-year old. (09/05)

Otis

IN MEMORY OF OTIS, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN JUNE 2011, AT AGE 14. Otis was adopted from LRR 3/98 at 15 months. Weekends mean limited nap time for Otis since his owners insist on being busy busy busy (wrestling, swimming, playing frisbee) till the sun goes down. In addition, Otis is required to supervise his humans while doing their household projects. Monday morning Otis is happy to see them out the door after his 4:45 am walk and breakfast. A dog needs his rest! At almost 9 years, Otis enjoys going on family vacations and visiting friends. (09/05)

Bucca

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF BUCCA. HE CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN FEBRUARY 2008, AT THE AGE OF 11. Bucca was adopted from LRR 2/98 at 4 months. Like other seniors, Bucca, age eight, has some “human” health problems (allergies; thyroid) but he is spry and active. Bucca loves his daily routine: eating breakfast, inspecting his outdoor territory, then heading to the dining room to clean up any morsels dropped from the table. Then it’s time to select the “toy of the hour” from his special basket before his nap (laying on his back, paws in the air). (09/05)

Kirby

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF KIRBY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN JUNE 2011, AT AGE 13. Kirby was adopted from LRR 5/98 at 7 months. He is the “senior citizen” (almost 8 years in dog years) at his home – he has some trouble with his back left leg when walking and running but the soreness doesn’t keep him from playing and running at a slower pace! You just can’t keep a good dog down! Kirby makes up for this with lots of affection and gentle play with his owners and fellow dog Kali. (09/05)

Buster Brown

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF BUSTER BROWN, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN JANUARY 2006. Buster Brown was adopted from LRR 5/02 at age 4. Chasing after twin boys keeps “BB” in good health as well as slim and trim! He loves trotting along with the boys in their jogging stroller and licking their faces for their good behavior once they return to the house. All this activity means “BB” needs a nap on the nearby couch while the twins are napping in their room. You could almost say BB and the boys are triplets! (09/05)

Cleo

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF CLEO, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN APRIL, 2006. Cleo came to her home from LRR 10/96 at 5 months. She is a “special exception” — a Golden Retriever. Cleo, at 9 years of age, is the older sister for two Black Lab puppies so her daily routine includes chasing tennis balls; sometimes she lets them win! Afterwards it’s time to take a break by sunbathing on the deck. With her energy level high once again, Cleo enjoys rolling a tennis ball down the staircase to play “catch.” Cleo’s biggest complaint: seasonal grass allergies in the spring. (09/05)

Kali

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF KALI, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN AUGUST 2008, AT THE AGE OF 10. Kali was adopted from LRR 5/98 at 7 months. Kali loves to spend a good part of her day outdoors, playing, exploring, and snoozing. Kali also enjoys spending time with her fellow housedog (and dog-brother), Kirby. Kali does a little huffing and puffing after a vigorous romp in the yard but she is always on the go since there are so many interesting things waiting to be investigated! (09/05)

IN MEMORY OF BUSTER, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN MARCH 2010, AT THE AGE OF 12. Buster was adopted from LRR 7/04 at age 6. Overall, at age seven, Buster is laid back, content, and generally well-adjusted. He is well liked in the neighborhood and has a standing invitation to join his owner’s parents for dinner at their house (with or without his owner). He engages in conversations with the owner’s mom: she asks the questions, he answers by thumping his tail. Only bad habit—he snores like a freight train! (09/05)

Shorty

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF SHORTY, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN MARCH 2007. Shorty came to his home from LRR 11/96 at about 2 years old. Now, at the spry age of almost 11, he likes to be up early for his daily walk. Afterwards he enjoys “chilling out” with his pals, another dog and three cats. He enjoys his daily snacks and is very fond of the couch. Once his family is home, Shorty enjoys playing with them, taking another walk BUT bring on his supper! Of course he then hears the couch calling his name and stretches out on it until bedtime. (09/05)

Briar

Joined the LOL 9/2005

IN MEMORY OF BRIAR, WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IN SEPTEMBER 2006. Briar was adopted 9/94 from LRR at 6 months. Remember the song “Ebony and Ivory?” Well, Briar and her pal, Spritie illustrate this contrast between black and white perfectly: Briar is white; Spritie is black. They have a great time playing and chasing each other around the house. Oh, by the way, Spritie is a cat! Briar’s other best friend, Pierre, is a Bishon. Being part of a military family, Briar knows the importance of keeping order in the ranks: she’s the general; they are her troops! (09/05)
